The other day our little man pulled himself up using a wooden TV table and it wasn't stable enough to hold him. Before we could catch it, the whole thing fell over on him and it landed on the top of his foot. Two really ugly bruises appeared right away and it began to swell. It was painful for him if we touched it and fear rose up in me - what if it's broken, what do we do, do we take him to the hospital, what?
I went and got the icepack out of the freezer and grabbed a towel to cover it with and by that time had calmed enough to think properly - the first thing we do is deal with it in Jesus' name, of course! So Darren and I laid hands on his little foot and prayed. We commanded all swelling and bruising to go and any damage we couldn't see to be reversed. We stood on the promise that not one bone of his body would be broken and that Jesus bore this pain for him already so that he didn't have to ever bear it. When we checked the foot, the bruising had disappeared and the swelling was noticeably diminished.
We iced it anyway and continued to thank God for protecting our son. He got bored with the ice and began to crawl and walk around like nothing happened at all. Our God is so good!
